Making it happen

BREITLING

Breitling was established in 1884 with the purpose of developing chronographs and counters for industrial applications. Before long the brand was entwined in the developing aviation industry. Breitling’s reputation for making ‘Instruments for Professionals’ has grown from strength to strength and the famous ‘Navitimer’ is still the preferred timepiece for pilots.

Nigel Lamb has worked in conjunction with the Swiss luxury watch brand for more than fifteen years. The Breitling Air Racing team was created in 2005 as the partnership rose to the new challenge of the Red Bull Air Race World Championship.

Breitling’s core values of quality, performance and precision are those to which the team aspires. Nigel says, “We are privileged to be associated with Breitling, one of the most respected brands involved with aviation.”

Coventry University

Coventry University is a forward-looking modern university with an established academic presence regionally, nationally and across the world. Its Department of Aviation, Aerospace, Electrical and Electronic Engineering – which features cutting edge flight sims and a full-size Harrier Jump Jet – works closely with the Institute of Engineering and Technology and the Royal Aeronautical Society to produce relevant, up-to-date and professionally accredited courses.
Final year aerospace technology student Anthony Murira and flight safety researcher Dr Mike Bromfield teamed up earlier this year with Nigel and his son Max – himself a Coventry University engineering graduate – to explore how the University could help support Nigel and the Breitling Racing Team.
